When most of us think of growth, we think of growing up the ladder. Have you ever wondered in which other dimensions can someone grow? Here are few dimensions I can think of —

1. Socially — Have you noticed people who are always surrounded by people. These types of people get a company in anything they do 😊. Whether it is shopping or walking, they have someone. For every occasion, they have loads of friends and family members to celebrate. In tough times, they have people around them too. They are never alone. These types of people naturally are like magnets to people. Obviously, they are generous, humble and kind, and always willing to help. For them, relationships matter a lot. If they don’t find anyone to talk to a single day, they can go crazy. These types of people value social growth.

2. Financially — These people are very particular about their expenses and earnings. They are avid investors. Even if they buy something as a gift, they would think about value for money. They are financially growing every day due to their investment mindset. They like to secure their future with finance and are adept investors or savers. For them, everything in life is about financial growth.

3. Academically — These people are lifetime learners. Any type of learning opportunity makes them really feel recognized. They are ready to take up a new course, enroll in a new class, and continue studying still. They would prefer to sit and study instead of going out. They value their academic growth more than anything.

4. Intellectually — Not every time academic growth is the same as intellectual growth. These types of people just care to grow intellectually by self-motivation. They read books on a variety of topics. They just like to learn and improve their understanding of almost everything — for example from how a table is made to how down pillows are created. These types of people are very knowledgeable. They can talk with anyone and anything. They value knowledge and intellectual growth.

5. Professionally — These types are well known. They would value their professional growth to anything else. They are always aspiring for their next big job or launching a new company. These types of people work really hard in their profession to build their own brand. They could be hard-core specialists or generalists with some unique values. They value their designation, power, and mastery in what they do.

6. Personally — They believe in experiencing things. People who want to create their own brand. They want to be known for the things they do. They want to be associated with big names etc. They are good influencers and supporters. These people do a lot of things for themselves. They also do a lot of things for others. However, they definitely have themselves as the center of everything.

7. Physically — They are super focused on their physical growth. These people focus a lot on what they eat, how much they exercise, and how well they are doing physically. They push their boundaries physically. For them the growth means, having a fit body.

A lot of people who I met have enjoyed different forms of growth. Some like to grow socially, while some like to grow personally. In many cases, a person can grow in multiple dimensions quite well. We are all unique. What matters most is to be aware of which dimension is important for you. What makes you happy? So next time, if you miss your promotion or miss a personal goal, don't be too disappointed, maybe you grew in some other dimension.

P.S — Above thoughts are completely based on my experiences :-)
